    Hi Tom,

Well done on getting this up so promptly. I will admit to having to think quite hard in terms of your travelogue and your city's relationship to your collaborator; the big impression I get from your travelogue is a preoccupation with sustainabilty (the clothing and the 'garden city' factor - so food being grown everywhere, and a sense of a sort of kit-bashed architecture). It also seems quite chaotic (you mention a sense of claustrophobia in terms of the built environment) but you also refer to a hive. I'm not sure I understand how someone like Miyake, perhaps famed for his elegance and minimalism might oversee somewhere that has a slight sense of a 'shanty town' or something less 'designed'. You may have your reasons, so I'm just suggesting that I'm not absolutely seeing the links here between your artist, the travelogue and your proposed scene. I really like lots of your thumbnails, but the one you're putting forward seems to be a shot where the emphasis is on a road, the trees and the matte painting (with the matte painting appearing more architectural and complex than the digital set - maybe more interesting than the digital set elements?) I think you need to think of the matte painting as set extension as opposed to set substitution, and also, I wouldn't get caught up in modelling trees when there's all this incredible city to be thinking about. One hint for students has been to think about basing the digital set itself around a building or area that somehow embodies your city - so its cathedral or government or great library or whatever - so your 'hero prop' building has special status amongst maybe some more supporting buildings. You might have established this in your head, but again, I'm just struggling a bit to knit all your ideas together as they're presented here. Lots of lovely thumbnails and a highly imaginative travelogue packed with detail - but I wonder if you could unpack things for me a little further?
