    Hi Tom,

It's interesting to me that your concept art should have moved towards a more dystopian-like space, where the red and green combine to somehow give an impression that all is not completely happy here. I don't know if this is your intention, and if so, how it sits with your collaborator, but certainly the net result of your design choices are not suggestive of a utopian future. This is in no way to suggest that the concept painting isn't effective - I like it very much, but it doesn't feel very welcoming. Your travelogue had this quality too, of course - a rather troubled place not at ease with itself. I suppose I'm still looking for Miyake in all of this - would he build and envision things and spaces in this way? Would there be so many box-like buildings from a man associated with flying lines and sculptural forms? Again, the answer may be yes, so I look forward to your articulation of your visual concept at the final crit because it's clear you're ready to go into production and have worked hard to get to this stage.

My advice to many of your classmates has been to look now at as much real world reference as possible to ensure your nuancing your models in accordance with the little architectural details that will lend depth and credibility to your assets. Likewise in terms of materiality and surface - let's see some subtlety in terms of differentiating between textures. Lighting obviously plays a big part in your scene and that will represent a further challenge in terms of translation.
